Thank you Dr. Lorange for your generous contribution
The Evening School has received significant support for materials and supplies for the children from our generous donor, Dr. Peter Lorange, a friend of our major sponsors, Dr. Balaji and Mrs Kiran Chakravarthy. Dr. Lorange has been a keen supporter of education throughout his successful career and is one of the world's foremost business school academics. He is currently the owner and President of the Lorange Institute of Business in Switzerland.

Peter Lorange was formerly the President of IMD for 15 years, one of Europe's leading business schools. He has written 18 books and 125 articles in the fields of corporate strategy leadership and shipping, and serves on the Board of six corporations, including the publicly tracked Seaspan Inc. and Zaruma Inc.

He sold his wholly owned shipping company, S. Ugelstad, in 2008. Before joining IMD, Peter Lorange was President of the Norwegian School of Management (BI) and before this, he was a professor at the Wharton School, the Sloan School, IMD and IMEDE, Lausanne.

His doctorate is from Harvard and he holds a Master's from Yale and an undergraduate degree from the Norwegian School of Economics and Business (NHH).

We are very grateful to Dr. Lorange for his generous support.
Per aspera ad astra: the Indian story
A while ago, if someone had dared saying we were not going to win the battle we have started with our Evening School, we would have probably turned our backs and moved forward, which, in fact, we did. We fought the poverty, the illiteracy of many people, the corruption, and natural disasters, even during those many times we had no support. Looking back, we realize that our effort was not in vain, that we were and are part of a story of success: an Evening School success.

When we first started this school, the level of illiteracy in Tirunelveli, Konyiankulam village, was by far the lowest in the area and this included the children. Now, after more than 6 six years, we can proudly say what we have achieved. And we achieved so many things. Sarawanan is perhaps our great achievement. Like all the other children, when he first came to the Evening School, he lacked so many resources, starting with education, money, etc.

Nonetheless, through an assiduous effort, Sarawanan is now likely to become the first in the state. L. Siva Sarawanan, at 16 years old, has had great performance in school. His marks (Maths 100 out of 100, Science 100 out of 100, English 97 out of 100, Tamil 96 out of 100, and an overall mark of 485 points out of 500) are true evidence of how one can build something from nothing. Sarawanan is still coming to our Evening School and makes us proud every day. Despite the poverty his family faces (lack of money to support himself and his sister), the teenager strives to stay on top and be the winner. And he succeeds.

Like Sarawanan, Mugila is another child with great performance at school. When she first came to our Evening School, she did not manage to pass more than 4 exams. Now, Mugila is among the first pupils to become the best in the state, with a total of 425 points out of 500, Mugila overcame these hardships life offers us during our existence. Arul Mary and Uma are also part of our Evening School success.

To continue our story of success and ensure such great performance, we need people to support us and believe in our work. Every child who graduates our Evening School is a great achievement both for us and for the community. Hence, we ask for some attention, not only for our children, but for the children world-wide. We have proved to be one of the best in making change in these children's lives.

Listen to Our Children
When I was 7 years old my father abandoned us and that time I was very sad and in spite of telling him to come back he didn't. He married again. My mummy and I were upset.

We cooked in the house after 15 days. From then, my mummy is does domestic work and feeds me. My mom can’t send me to school as she is having health problems and is not able to feed us well. I was also about to stop school and go to work to help my mom. At that time, a Madam & Sir from HELP Evening school came to my house and made us realise the importance of attending school. They are helping me now and I am going to school. I have secured the 1st rank in my class.. My tuition teacher has helped me score better marks. I wish to become a doctor someday and help the people in my village.
