Our Major Activities/Projects
All our activities are exclusively targeted towards children and their parents. We select children without any discrimination based on gender, caste, religion, political affiliation or language. We follow an exhaustive evaluation process which includes quantitative metrics like the number of children impacted, the cost per activity or cost per child and qualitative measures such as the impact on the local community, structure and long term sustainability of the organization.
EVENING SCHOOL PROJECT (ESP)
This project is focused on adopting poor rural children aged 5-20 who are not able to go for education because of poverty. Many of these children are bonded labourers or are going to be forced to be bonded labourers and participate in the child labour industry.

In Tirunelveli district the people are mostly beedi rolling workers, cooliee workers, sex workers, or agricultural workers. Many of them live well below the poverty line which means there is no income to send their children for education.

In order to survive, they are sending their children to work so they can get some money as an advance. Therefore, there is no education or sustainable earning. In many cases, the girls are forced to become sex workers.

This creates lot of problems. Some of the most pressing problems are:
  • Lack of education
  • Unawareness about education, employment and children's rights
  • High rate of unemployment
  • Young girls being forced to become sex workers
  • High level of poverty
  • High instances of life-threatening diseases without treatment options
  • Lack of sustainable livelihoods
Aim of the project
The goal of this project is to establish an evening school to give orphans, street children, underprivileged children and disabled children a better chance in life through providing educational support and motivation, skill games, free tuition and the establishment of a literacy program.

Minister's Visit
The Hon. Minister of Govt of India , Mr.Thanuskodi Aathithan visited our organization in 2005. He inaugurated the Livelihood Training Center at Kootapuli for the welfare of Tsunami affected Young people in costal areas of Tirunelveli District.

He praised the commendable work carried out by HELP and it's volunteers for the welfare of local Tsunami affected families. He said that the people of Kootapuli and neighbouring villages had lost their houses and income. As a result of the havoc, these families are finding it very difficult to send their kids to school.

The Government is taking several steps towards solving this issue.

"I hope and wish that this training center will provide livelihood training for families and also provide educational support for the kids."

He also remarked that HELP motivates and achieves it's targets in the area.
